Great pictures!

Maybe not, but it would be nice if the OP would repost the report here, it's common courtesy.

D'oh!

I'm so sorry for not giving the link...I had meant to and had done the "copy" but forgot to actually "paste" the link into my post!

As for reposting it directly to flyertalk...I didn't think that this forum would handle the embedded pictures the same way that airliners.net does...so it would come out all messed up...

Again really sorry, I posted here after staying up way too late finishing up the trip report...

thanks.

That was a great read! Two things:

1. The onion thing: that's just part of the dish. Used to be one of my favorite parts of satay, dipping it in the peanut sauce and eating it just like that. Of course, that was before I knew I can't eat onions.

2. Maybe I should bring my hand puppet along on my upcoming trip. Not sure what the gf will say though. LOL.

Nice TR! Thanks.

Great TR! Loved the pics with Woodstock enjoying the travels. I will have to bring my Pikachu Pokemon along for the ride if i ever fly F to Japan! :D

Burj Apr 19, 2010 7:53 pm

t1nt1n that is what I figured and what I ended up using the onion for, eating up the rest of the satay sauce...which might just be the best part of satay!

Woodstock definitely enjoyed the trip and was a great ice breaker with the flight crew and various airline/airport staff...

Thanks for the excellent report. And thanks especially for not filling it up with silly over-the-top adjectives like so many others!

Woodstock is a great touch.

SQ really need to improve their meals. I did the same routing back in January this year and they seem to be using the same ingredients in their meals for the past 8 years or so! Time for a menu update. But they can keep the caviar there!

Actually Woodstock was mad at me for pre-ordering the roast pheasant!
:D

I could see if I flew this route a lot I would get tired of the meal choices...but I would guess a lot of the people on this flight are the once in a life-time types so it is o.k...

The LAX-SIN non-stop probably has A LOT of regulars so that flight hopefully has a rotating menu....

I don't drink so I didn't ask for any champagne....I've been told they serve Dom in first class...

Hope no one's irritated that I revived an old thread, but I was curious how were the flight attendants' Singapore sight seeing recommendations.

No problem...though you probably could have PM'd me as I'm always happy to get messages from fellow FT-ers!

The recommendations were really spot on and helpful for the "non-touristy" stuff.

What I mean is that I've noticed that people never do the really touristy stuff in the city they actually live in. Plenty of Parisians NEVER go to the Eiffel tower, plenty of New Yorkers have NEVER been to the Statue of Liberty...

So in a similar way they FA's were a little unsure of where exactly the Merlion was but that was o.k. as I had plenty of maps with me and they were able to find it on the map after looking for a minute....

However the non-touristy advice was really great. I went and saw Kumar perform at the Hard Rock and wouldn't have even have heard of Kumar if it weren't for the SQ FA recommending him/her! It was really cool to see a Singaporean performer who was performing FOR Singaporeans and not for tourists.

The advice they gave me about buying fruit was also very useful as was the advice on which malls would be the coolest to visit.

Basically for the purely touristy stuff, like when is the Singapore Flyer open...the guide books are the best.

But for REAL insight into Singapore, nothing is better than talking to a Singaporean and especially the FAs since they have traveled and know what other places are like in comparison.
