Bored of Flying (The same airline)?
Okay, this is a question popped out in my head..
I am just a moderate flyer, flying at least 50-60 thousand miles a year mostly trans-oceanic flights..
Over the last several years I've flown routinely 2 R/Ts Transpacs and at least 3-5 dozens of domestic flights each year.
Mostly I fly with Singapore, United, and Virgin America. However the segment that got me tired is the Transpac routine with SQ. The fact that the flight usually lasted over 18 hours, and I see the same cabin interior over and over again, I was simply bored of flying the same airline over and over again even if I've flown them in F or C.
Don't get me wrong, the services are great and so does everything else onboard.. But it is the familiarity that ended up making me feeling bored. Yet, I can't really go anywhere since SQ is the most convenient airline to/from my home country plus I'm an elite member with them.. Sure Star Alliance is big, but the only airline I can fly with is Domestically with United and (soon to be) Continental, along with Virgin America; while flying with SQ internationally.. Yet Cathay Pacific also offers the same level of service as SQ, but they are of a different alliance..
I wanted to try different airlines services in F and C but were always faced with the dilemma of not retaining my elite membership year after year. So every time I fly this year, I was looking forward for a boring instead of an interesting and wonderful flight.

Sure I get bored. I always try to experience different airlines -- after taking the TK flight DOH-IST several times this year, I took MS DOH-CAI-IST just for a change of pace (I was also tired of the 2:00am TK departure; instead opting for an afternoon departure and nice overnight in Cairo), even though I know that Turkish is generally a better airline than EgyptAir.
United's agents often seem incredulous when I try to book a combination of different airlines on a long-haul award ticket. Although with Starnet blocking, I am usually frustrated in the effort.
Of course, most of the time, there often isn't much of a difference between the on-board experience, but it's nice to break the monotony once and awhile.

Yep, bored. I've been flying the same TATL route for about a year, maximizing miles on AA to earn top tier (next trip!), but it sure gets tedious. I know the drill, I'm sick of the menu (oh, that nasty snack pizza!)...but the perks of status are addictive and I miss them when I fly as a no-status pax.
I always envied folks who traveled for work, but now that I'm on the road half the time it has gotten OLD real quick. And I don't fly enough to spread out my flying among FF programs, though the current DEQM promotions have me contemplating a MR to make basic tier on another alliance.
