JAL up for grabs

I don't think this have seen talked about on the UA board, but I would think it could have a big impact on UAs Asian business.

From various reports, both AA and DL are in talks to purchase a major stake in JAL, which is apparently really hurting for cash.

With Delta already making inroads into Australia and now having the old NW routes into Asia, a Delta partnership with JAL could really up the ante for UA.

If AA gets the nod it would seem much more status quo since they're already the same alliance, unless they negotiate access to some of JALs current routes, in which case AA could go head to head with UA on NRT out of ORD.

The wolves are circling.

Do the USA carriers have the cash to spend?
