Unfortunately he didn't know who the gate agent was - or they probably would have invited her to the wedding!!!

Not in the same league as you guys, but when we were coming back from our honeymoon (many years ago!), we volunteered to be bumped off the BA flight back from Vancouver. I was hoping for an extra night holiday, but as it was we ended up on a flight that left less than an hour later.

I can't remember exactly how much we got in vouchers, but I think it must have been in the region of 750 each. We used them the following year to go to Amsterdam for our wedding anniversary, but BA messed up the booking, and I ended up having to go to one of their travel shops to sort it out. They fixed the problem, and added a bit extra on for the trouble, so we were able to get the whole holiday, rather than just the flights, for free.

Coming back from Amsterdam, we were involuntarily bumped (although we didn't argue much), ended up on a flight a few hours later, and then they they lost our lugagge on the way back. We got about 250 each for that, and used those vouchers to go to Edinburgh for our 2nd anniversary.

I was a bit disappointed that they managed to get us back on the right flight,
that time. We had to start paying for holidays again after that.

...had a tight connection in Chicago (imagine that), raced onto the plane without the chance to see if I could be upgraded. I asked the FA if there was any chance I still had time, but also stated I didn't want to slow anything down (wasn't that big a deal, short flight). She said we had a 5 minute delay, that I could go ahead. I stated again that it wasn't that important, I'd be fine, but she assured me it would be no problem. I snuck out, upgraded, grabbed my seat in First.

The plane was being held for a late addition. A supermodel that I recognized (but don't know the name of) strolled onto the plane, past me in first, sits in the empty seat next to the original coach seat I had been in.

Not sure why she wasn't upgraded.
