Today I flew from Charlotte to Tampa. No snacks, not even a very small bag of peanuts. What's happening to the occassional business traveler.

Welcome to FT.
Were you on US Airways? They eliminated pretzels 2 years ago.

Welcome to Flyertalk, carrod
To answer your question, the sad reality is that many, if not, most domestic flights now offer either no snacks or very limited snacks, particularly on short-haul routes.
I hope that you will peruse the various FT Forums, particularly the Airline Forums. There you will find many discussions of snacks which are offered.
