Where have you been stranded?

In the spirit of 33 getting an unexpected diversion to HNL (my thoughts are with the Co-Pilot, I do hope he is OK) (btw it is perfect weather today here) :-D I am just wondering what other "exotic" places or down right crappy places people have been stuck for an extra night.

I am batting 1000 with LAS, LGA and now here in HNL

Very true, I do not see myself stranded in HNL, rather a mini-vacation.

However, if I were stuck in YWG, for example, I would consider myself stranded

Terrace, BC in the dead of winter. Tried to get out via Rupert the next AM, only to find the hwy had been washed out.

(Actually, I think it was CAIL.)

Forced by weather or overbooking into unplanned stays in ELP, DFW, BOS, and DEN, but these cover a lot of years.

WAW, due to weather.

We then managed to get (completely unintentionally) invited to the grand opening of a new hotel, complete (replete?) with all you can eat and drink. Not a bad stranding, really!

Also LHR, due to the 7/7 bombings - I'd managed to fly in, but there was no onward transport from the airport into London at all.

Barra, when a force 8/9 gale came through, causing the ferries to be cancelled during a FT do.

Tobago, when my VS plane came in with a hold fire, causing a 24 hour delay. This would have been a very nice one, if they hadn't refused to give us our luggage back, which meant we ended up wearing the same clothes for approximately 36-40 hours... in the tropics and on a plane

Somewhere just inside the western edge of South Dakota. Timing belt on my 1986 Subaru XT broke 20 miles from the nearest town, middle of winter.

Stranded in Shezhen (SZX) - Inbound UA flight from SIN was delayed due to a typhoon -- despite numerous SQ flights leaving while the UA flight waited. SZX was jammed full of people, flights all cancelled til following day. Ventured out in torrential rain to find a budget hotel ... mistake ... should have stayed in airport or taken a cab to a Hilton.

EWR, during a blizzard in February 1994.

Once the airport re-opened, because I was flying non-rev, I had to take a circuitious route home to FLL - via LAX and IAH
