Boarding for flights with 3 classes

Do first and business board together, or first , then business, then economy? Which group can elites board with?

Depends on the airline.

Really varies. Depends on the airline and the airport - some airport/airline combos sometimes have special features like boarding directly from lounges, double decker jetways (the A380 almost requires this), a few have car service for First (FRA, MUC, ZRH for LH plus CDG for AF) etc...

Generally boarding is a first, business, economy order (often but not always with a "bypass" if a First/Business pax comes up after the initial call) with status passengers slotted in somewhere (1st + top tier). But if an airline wants to have a general cattle call to fill up an A380, that is up to them.

I agree. This depends on airline and airport. For example, NH can do pre-boarding for pax "who need assistance" first on their 777-300s at LAX. Then they will board everyone at once through one boarding bridge. FAs at the a/c entrance door will not check boarding passes to direct pax to their seats. NH pax just scatter! Only a sign/diagram near the door will explain the seat alphabet system associated with aisle. OTOH, LH will board 2 classes simultaneously through two boarding bridges onto an Airbus A321 at MUC. Very efficient boarding and deplaning!

Similarly, for airlines with 4 classes the boarding process varies airline to airline.

Some airlines call premium pax later once everyone else has boarded - presumably to allow premium pax to relax for longer in the lounge.

I believe the answer is still - depends on the airline! Or are you somehow hoping for a different answer 6 months later??
