Alright... which FT'er was it?

UA 890, BKK-NRT, June 3rd, upper deck.

Deplaning, asked the FA if he could see the captain to make him aware of a supposed mis-calculation on the map screen (I believe).

Only an FT'er would care this much!

As an aside, at boarding, you found another pax mistakenly sitting in your seat who then sat next to me, behind you.

Same route on June 1st, the map said we had been in the air for 18 hours. I didn't report it though.

What I don't understand is why the new systems are not consistent.

I was downstairs in the center section of 747 with two family members on a flight to SYD and all three of us had slightly (off by a few minutes) different "time remaining" displayed.

The main reason for the difference is that each seat is its own computer. Found this out last week HKG to ORD. My system locked up and they rebooted it. Appeared to be a Linux operating system. Each seat is doing its on calc and if each computers clock is different this would be the result.

The people in the front of the plane will get there quicker than those further back in the plane .

Every once in a while, I found the 'miles to destination' number a bit screwy. On approach, it would say something like 2,345 miles, obviously NOT the case. Couple other minor glitches like that too.

But not as quick as the people who unbuckle their seat-belts and jump up before the plane has completely stopped moving at the gate.

We need a name for them, how about Belt Lice?

I was on SYD-SFO flight on Sunday, and the map was showing distance traveled as 0 mile, while distance to destination continued to count down. Maybe UA found a way to space warp

On a side note, I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Panasonic IFE system is Windows based. That might the the source of half of the problems we are seeing

I have had the screen show various speeds and elevations while we are parked at the gate!

People in front may deplane earlier, but the people in the middle and the back actually "arrive" or land first.
