Have you been medically repatriated?
I am a journalist doing a feature and could do with some help from experienced FT'ers..
Does anyone know someone who has been medically repatriated to the UK or Ireland? ie: flown home injured or sick from a holiday? It could have been a broken leg while skiing, a heart attack when losing money in Las Vegas or food poisoning in Bangkok...whatever the story I'd really like to speak to the people involved to find out what it's like to have been flown home by doctors...
You can PM me, or email grantosol AT hotmail.com or if you want to go very public about your repatriation experience, then you could post here!
Many thanks

I've posted about my grandfather's evacuation from France to Australia in 1989 in this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...endations.html and I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.
A doctor and nurse flew out from Australia and escorted him home on a stretcher.

There was a thread about a journalist recently having this type of problem!

It had nothing to do with the chinese he had at the FT do the night before he set off - thank goodness.

What gave you the idea for the piece

I had evacuation insurance for a trip to the US from my home in Prague. When I discovered I needed surgery, the company would not evacuate me back to Prague as they said medical treatment was available in the US.
Since the cost of surgery in the US was over $10,000 and in Prague it was $450, I used miles and bought a quick flight home.
