Which type of aircraft would you prefer
I find CRJ aircraft to be noisy, "crowded" and less appealing as compared to Embraer. These two appear to be used more and more by US domestic airlines for short distance flights.
Do the well-travelled members of this forum prefer one type of aircraft to another based on general plane type/manufacturer as opposed to specific seating etc?
Recently I was on Continental's 777-200ER and didn't care for it much. Until recently, I didn't even know that a Boeing 717 existed.

As long as its bigger than a CRJ and holds 100+ passengers, I'm fine with that..
Which means from MD-80s up to A380 is fine for me. But I always draw the line not to go lower than 100 pax.

I find CRJ's to be acceptable if they are the first leg of the journey. I HATE them after transiting for 20-30 hours and to get stuck on them with a seat mate...
I'm 197cm, I have horrible problems with the window seats.

Between a CRJ and an Embraer, I'd pick the Embraer every time (not helping my economy, I know). I'm only basing this off of the fleet AC uses, but I find the E175s and E190s very comfortable, and the CRJ and CRA to be considerably less comfortable.

That's because it's essentially a redesigned MD-80/DC9. Boeing and McDonald Douglas merged in 1997 as the "MD-95" was about to go into production and it was released as the B717. It ceased production in 2006. Sales were poor, in large part because it didn't have operational commonality with either any Boeing product or any MD product (although it looks like a DC9/MD80, someone who was current in the DC9/MD-80 didn't have a "type rating" in the 717)

If you're just comparing the two you mentioned, I much prefer a 170/175/190 over a CRJ, easily. Especially a 190 where I can get F or an exit row (like this morning).

When you say Embraer I assume you mean the smaller 135/145 , with the 1-2 configuration when compared to a CRJ, witha 2-2 configuration....rather than an E-170/190 correct?
I prefer an E-170/190 over a CRJ, but prefer a CRJ over an E-135/145.
For the most part, aircraft preferences are based on the airline configuration. For domestic medium-haul I like the 737-800, but often prefer the seats used by many carriers on the A319/320. If I am stuck between a 757 and A321 I'll lean towards the A321. If I am looking for a TATL flight and am between a 757 or 767/A330, I'll chose the 767/A330 For over the pacific I find the 747/777, A330/340 all fine (depending on carrier).
For Air France I prefer the 777 over the A330/340, on KLM I choose the A330 over the 777. Lufthansa I prefer the 747 over the 330/340, on Northwest I prefer the A330 over the 747.
So its all about how the aircraft is configured.
Happy Flying!
