When I got my passport,they didn't have the 48 page booklets with RFID. I tired getting additional pages in at the U.S. Consulate in But they didn't have any for the new passport with RFID. I have only one side of one page and half of the other side available and I am on my way to Singapore. Has anyone gotten additional pages for the RFID passport in Singapore?

I did not get them in. Singapore but just a few days ago I got them in Bangkok without any problems!

I don't understand...is this normally difficult to do in SIN?

Doesn't answer your question, but FWIW I had extra pages added in Seoul to my non-RFID passport without any hassle.

IMHE there is no difference in doing it in SIN or BKK or HKG for that matter.

My passport isnt quit yet full and have a little bit of breathing room for some visa stamps. Since I plan on having some considerable Intl travel coming up, I figured on my most recent trip to get extra pages added.

Went on line, got the first available appoint 27 Feb, two weeks into my trip. That Friday morning, I went to the Amsterdam American Embassy website to got the location.

Lo and behold the first page has a message that the embassy was out of additional pages until further notice. Canceled that appointment, and made another one for Monday 2 March, since I was leaving for the states on the third.

They were still out of pages so skipped that appointment as well.

whats the absolutely fastest way to get additional pages?

im going to germany and austria next week, and to 4 south american countries almost immediately thereafter.... one of which requires a VISA (at bolivian border)

us govt website says standard processing is 4-6 weeks, and EXPEDITED processing is 2-3 weeks (yay government services!)

i didnt plan on it - but i have not been able to be without passport for more than 3 weeks all year.

what happens if i run out of slots at customs? i dont have an empty page for visa in bolivia...

I didn't try in SIN. The only reason I went in BKK is after this trip I would be down to one or two pages and the embassy was very close to my hotel so I just stopped by to have it done.

I added extra pages in Beijing in 10 minutes. Had to make an online appointment though, the day before. Note that there is now a limit of 3 sets of extra pages, afterwards a new passport application is mandatory.

If you are still in the US and can get to it, go to your closest passport agency. You will pay a $60 expedite fee, but I was able to drop off my passport in the morning and had two sets of extra pages added by that afternoon.

dh01. Totally and utterly false. If you read back on anyone of the DOZENS of threads on this subject you will find that it is the position of the the state dept. to "encourage" people to apply for new passports after three sets,however there is no such "limit" and in NO WAY is is "mandatory" as you state (well actually there is, which is that each addition must be affixed to two original pages, which does give a max of 18, but then again I have discoved that two of mine are NOT within orignal pages). I'm on my 9th extra set currently, the last one recently acquired. 7 and 8 were given to me at once about 18 months ago. In neither case was a word muttered. For set 6 , I had a few words with the FSO, as she tried to encourage me, but I was having none of it. When I went for set 5, I did have an uppity little ....... of an FSO in Munich who tried to bully me, and refused to back up his claims with documentation. I left, spoke with the chief of mission's office and came back 20 minutes later and had them issued immediately - and got a nasty stare from teh guy, as he had obviously been spoken to.

I have noticed that with each addition the period of time it takes to get them added takes longer. I would estmate that it went form what was once only a few minutes tonow closer to an hour. Many believe that it is because they scan all your PP pages when you get new ones, which prolonges the process, and would be why they are trying to discourage some people from getting more pages.

I got the extra pages added to my passport in about 10 minutes at the U.S. embassy in Singapore.

I'll just re-iterate what others have said: The simplest way to handle this is to do some minimal research online to determine when you'll be in the area of a consulate. Go to their website to determine the hours for USA Citizen Services and follow the procedure. It will likely take all of 30 minutes at the actual offices and what ever travel time is needed to get there and back from where ever you are working / vacationing. And it's free.

The other advantage of doing this is to get a sense of what many people's first contact with U.S. Bureaucracy is like as well as see Barack Obama's portrait on the wall instead of...
