"Operated by"
I tried searching for this information but came up empty. I'm wondering what it means when you fly with an airline, but your flight is 'operated by' another airline. for instance, i booked a ticket with AZ, but every segment is operated by AirOne. What does that mean for me? Whose policies (checked baggage fees, etc) will be followed? Thanks!

AirOne's procedures would be in place for the flights operated by them. I don't know how much differentiation there is between the two airlines though, since they and Alitalia are in a similar situation as Delta/Northwest are here in the states - owned by the same parent and in the process of merging operations.

If you buy a ticket for a USAir flight and the Eticket alludes to the fact that one or more segments is operated by Aeroflot, the combo is not a winning one. Stay home!

Yes and no. You are subject to the policies of the carrier where the bags are initially checked. So if you are flying as a non-status passenger in CO's BF to PSA routing EWR-(CO)-CDG-(AF)-PSA where the last segment is in Y and is a CO codeshare operated by AF (I do not know that such exists, but go with it for the sake of the example) then you are still allowed 3x 70 pound bags all the way to PSA, even though the AF policies would allow much less. On the return, however, you are subject to the AF Y limitations at check-in.
