Newspaper quagmire

So I'm sitting on my flight slc-sna today and during taxi I normally scan my USA Today over each section then I put it away so during flight I can read it in depth. So, when we were getting de-iced, I was about to put the paper in the seatback pocket when the man across the aisle asked me if he could read my paper. Realizing my routine was about to be ruined, and of course I didn't want to look like an idiot, I said "yes of course"
He read every syllable of that paper for the duration of the flight while I looked at the seat in front of me. Would any of you do anything different?

Well, I would have given it to him, saying, though, that I wasn't finished reading it and would need it back. Then, when I was ready to read on, I would have asked for it back.

I think I would have just responded to him that I was not finished with it yet but would be happy to pass it along AFTER I had finished reading it. Then I would put it away until we were in flight.

Your fault. The person had no way of knowing what you "planned". He did ask your permission and you should have given a polite but honest answer. Obviously no big deal, but a little lesson for future flights.

BTW I have had people sitting next to me just reach into my seat pocket and grab the reading material without asking me!

That paper comes in 4 separate sections. Even after he asked and you agreed, there's no reason you both could not read different sections at the same time.

Except for the sudoku, you'll need to fight him over that.
