Mutli-passenger tickets

Can 2 passengers be accommodated on the same ticket? I realize for fare purposes it's going to be double the single fare but does this concept even exist anymore? I know in the past (in the 80s) I have seen tickets with "Passenger 1 name", "Passenger 2 name" etc. on the same paper ticket.

Two passengers can (and often do) exist in a single reservation record (PNR) which is probably what you are thinking of. But even in those cases each passenger has an individual ticket assigned.
