Getting bumped on a fully refundable ticket
Let's say that I want to meet a friend at the gate so I buy a fully refundable ticket. What if the flight that my refundable ticket is for is overbooked, and they take volunteers for bumping? Could I get bumped, and then get a free flight plus a refund on the refundable ticket?

Which airline(s) are you speaking of that have such a policy?? CO certainly will allow such a VDB situation - I've done it. I even told them that if the re-route they could get wasn't sufficient I'd take the bump then cancel and buy another ticket on a reasonable routing. I still got my voucher.
