Where is the USO at IAH

We'll have a long layover in IAH on our way to Bonaire. Is the USO before or after security? We'll have bags in tow that we won't be able to check until around 7:30pm and we arrive at the airport around 2:00pm. I thought that the USO would be the best place to hang out for a few hours and maybe leave our luggage while we walk around killing time.

We're flying to Bonaire from Anchorage--that's why we have this insane layover.

Thanks. It looks like we will arrive in Terminal A and depart for Bonaire at Terminal E. Once past security can we travel between Terminal C and Terminal E without going through security again?

I think I will route us through Salt Lake City and take a 4 hour layover there before continuing to IAH. That way when we arrive in IAH we can just pick up the luggage and check in with Continental. That way we can just go hang out at the gate until departure. I'd rather hang around SLC with no bags than to have to sit around the check in counters at IAH of 4 or 5 hrs.

What a logistical pain in the rear!

Welcome to FlyerTalk!!

The USO is inside security so you will not be able to bring your bags in with you while you wait to check them in. What airline are you taking from ANC to IAH? Since you mention SLC I'm assuming Delta. You will most likely be able to get them to check your bags all the way through to Bonaire. Have a copy of your eTicket with the PNR (6-letter/digit reservation number) and the eTicket number with you at the check-in counter in ANC and they should be able to do it if you ask nicely, especially since DL and CO are partners in SkyTeam, at least for now.

Yes, I'm looking at a Delta/SkyWest flight out of Anchorage. Using miles to get to Houston, We're flying first class to Houston so that might help too. I've never tried to get bags checked through when I'm traveling on different tickets with different airlines. I just assumed they couldn't do it. But I will definitely try now that you mentioned it.

My only worry is that with such long layovers the bags will be delayed getting to Bonaire. The bags with all of our dive gear and expensive underwater video gear

If they can't check it through then we will just have to suck it up. The return trip isn't this messed up and we will be in Bonaire for 2 weeks so plenty of time to recover from the jet lag.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice.
