As a guy who's 6'4 and isn't really fascinated at looking out of the window, aisle every time.

I like an aisle seat so I can have the option of getting up and moving around without disturbing anyone.

I take a window seat if I think I will need to sleep (early morning or overnight) and an aisle if not. If I fall asleep without the side of the plane to support me, my head has been known (more than once) to make its way to the aisle and get clobbered by a drink cart. Not fun.

Window. Definitely window.

Here's my ramble...

On a bird with "normal" seat pitch (31" or less), I will tend to prefer aisle regardless...I'm not petite and there is a bit more room with aisle seats. Last time I was on UAL in E-, I was in pain the whole flight. F9's A318 and A319 still state a 33" pitch, and you can tell the difference!

I just flew F9 for the first time last weekend and I absolutely loved it...I definitely COULD tell the difference in the seat pitch! Who would've thought two inches would make such a difference? The seats felt wider, too. I felt nearly like I was in NW first...almost. !!!

I always pick window. I'm a bigger girl so I never, ever enjoy the middle (not for my own sake, but the sake of making sure two people on either side of me are happy, not just one side). I like to look out the window with my chill music playing. I also like to be un-bothered and generally I feel like window is my solution for that. In aisle, there are always people walking by and such.

However, sometimes I wish I picked aisle if I'm not feeling well, or if I have a short layover! Generally I just feel that window is more peaceful for me. And...I like to have control of the window shade...it's always up for me! :) I feel almost claustrophobic when people put it down.

My preference by a mile is aisle, but aisle in the middle section

This way the people in the middle of the middle section can get the guy on the other aisle to move if they want to goto the toilet

IF your on the aisle in the section next to a window, the middle and window people have to disturb you to get out

Short haul aisle, long haul window.

I go for the aisle short haul as I like to stretch out and escape when the plane lands relatively quickly.
Long haul I prefer a window seat, just gives me something to look out of to pass the time. Must confess I only fly business on long haul so there's less of the feeling of being trapped or needing to disturb others to get out.
When travelling with the Mrs however I always end up in the middle if we end up on a 3 seat width configuration. Guess who wears the trousers there!

Its an age thing - under 40, window for the view. Past 50, aisle for fast access to the head.

I prefer window seats. I feel not disturbed by people moving in the corridor as when I have an isle seat.

Definitely a window guy cause I like to look outside, lean on the side to sleep and don't want to get up for people to get out, etc. But got stuck in a middle last night, and it was not as awful as I'd expect. Both sides allowed me elbow room, and it was only a 1h10m.

Wait until you get a middle between two armrest hogs, or two customers who are almost customers of size.

An aisle for freedom of movement and the potential legroom. *If an upgrade clears (more room), the weather is nice AND a window opens on the right side of the plane I might snag it to watch the house and neighborhood pass by 10 minutes after takeoff from SFO!

Black Adder Nov 14, 2008 6:36 pm

Any flight over 2 hours, aisle please. :)
