I'm not sure that data is particularly relevant these days - the only 707 I've seen in years is a cargo plane at PDX that doesn't ever seem to fly. And, on new planes, seating is something that's purchased by the airline (Customer Provided Equipment). It's not typically provided by the manufacturer of an airframe. Maybe it was different in the early 1960's...when mainline carriers actually used 707's.

Personally, I always opt for an aisle seat when I can. This is because I have *slightly* more room to stretch out and also because I'd rather have people climbing over me than have to climb over other people if I want to get out of my seat for some reason. To be honest, on a short flight it probably doesn't make a lot of difference, but on a longer flight it can.
Happily, though, not everyone thinks the same as I do and lots of people (possibly most) would prefer a window seat, for obvious reasons. I guess middle is not so popular. |
My upcoming trip has one aisle and one window.
Aisle so I can get up without bothering the rest of the row. Window so I can sleep (coming back). I'll take a middle when traveling with the bearded guy, but he tends to take the middle and give me the other seat, the darling - he's bigger bodied, but I have longer legs. My favorite, however -- the whole row to myself! |

If they offered an isle, I'd gladly take it! I live on one (though it's rather long).
But on the plane, I prefer an aisle seat because I can throw my elbows out and clobber people wandering down the aisle... |
Aisle > Window > Middle
Getting to lav > Looking out window > Getting crushed between two "average" sized Americans (with an exception if they're supermodels) |
I prefer the middle seat. I am a big fat guy, and i can cram both the aisle and window person over to the far side.
|
Never middle. I'm petite and don't like being scrunched by the big bruisers with big elbows and fat thighs.
Long flight traveling with someone else - aisles opposite unless it's a 2-X-2 in coach. Need to stretch and use the lav without crawling across someone or waking them up. Shorter flights - give me the window, if traveling with the Mr he takes the middle. Red eye traveling alone - window. |
Its not that I have never flown just not a real flyer maybe 5 times in my 50 years. I always get the window but was just wondering.
|
Window seat. I almost always sleep on the flight.

Isnīt the middle seat back wider than the others?
http://www.boeing.com/commercial/air...ps/707sec2.pdf page 13 (as PDF sees it) or 19 (written on page), figure 2.5 Not when you are being crowded by people on both sides  |
I want a Flyertalk sticker!!!
|
I personally prefer the window as I bring my camera in my briefcase so I can take pictures from the air.
|
I always pick the window seat. I prefer to look at the scenery, never use airplane bathrooms and it gives me something to lean against, rather than another person who may or my not be thrilled bout it, if I fall asleep.

I tend to choose the Aisle seat when flying those days. Easier to go to the bathroom without crawling over someone who might be sleeping there. And you can always signal the flight attendant for something to drink more visually. :D
