Help me pick a new program and alliance
I will be moving to NYC soon. Most of my travel is to Europe, with an occasional Carribean vacation spot and a trip to Japan. It seems to AS program will become relatively useless to me, so, help me pick a new program!

A little more info would be helpful.
Who is your current carrier that you credit to? Are you looking to fly enough to obtain elite status? What class do you fly in? Are you looking to earn miles for upgrades or for award tickets?

NYC gives you lots of options. I'd be looking at CO once they go to *A, or DL. With CO in *A you get alot of nonstops out of EWR along with access to Asia on UA. With DL you get alot of nonstops out of JFK along with access to Asia on NW. I'd compare perks at the elite level you're likely to obtain and go from there.

Currently I use AS and credit to AS. Last year I flew enough to get gold on both DL and AS. I usually fly in Y due to work rules. Looking to get miles for award tickets and upgrades on int'l flights.

If you've been satisfied with DL up until now, they might be a good option. As another poster mentioned, they give good coverage of Europe out of JFK, and the soon-to-be merged DL/NW will have good service to Asia. If you got Gold on two airlines last year, you should be able to make Platinum Medallion by consolidating onto one carrier. This will help to maximize your miles and might get you closer to the front of the line for upgrades.

I'd go with DL. Even with the departure of CO, skyteam will still have excellent coverage in Europe and NW should have you covered in Asia. Plus, if you already have elite status with them, you won't be starting from scratch.

Depends on how much OP flies.
If (s)he flies more than 100K miles, then pick AA. It's no brainer.
If (s)he flies less than that, then I would guess it depends on where in Europe OP flies to, but I'd be inclined to choose AA and CO as backup.
