I fly the cheapest ticket and i'm somewhere different every week so no.
I see the same people working the gates in CLT every week, but not the same people on flights. I'm just amazed how many people connect with me though. I'll be flying to podunkville and have several different people connect with me. |
Quite a few years ago I was flying US across the pond to LGW and while talking to my seatmate we realized we were returning on the same flight..We ended up across from each other on the flight back to PHL.
Cheers Howie |
Quite often, I see the same folks returning on the late flight after the redeye in that same day.

Yes, it happened to me once... transatlantic. I was speaking with some woman on the outbound flight and it turned out she was returning 2 weeks later on the same date and flight as me. I saw her walking down the aisle on the return trip and we spoke several times throughout the flight when she would pass by.
Oddly enough... on this same trip, a sister of a friend of mine had booked the same outbound and return flights as me and we found out prior to the travel dates strictly by coincidence. We then changed our seats so we could sit together on both flights. Very unusual. |
Just a few months ago I was traveling MSP-JFK and noticed a guy that had been on my outbound flight. We chatted for a few minutes. I'm sure it's happened to me more than once, but I honestly don't pay that much attention to other passengers. I only noticed this guy because the outbound flight was relatively empty, and he had long gray hair which struck me as a little unusual.

Couple of years ago I flew EWR-OSL with a client. Did our business on the day of arrival and flew back the next morning. Seemed a bit crazy to breeze through Norway so quickly, but..
Not only did we fly with the same crew, there were about 4 other pax in the F cabin who had flown over with us. |
yes and not only the same pax but also the same crew as it was a short turn and the same two fam's

I've had several Monday-Thursday/Friday regulars on my long-term commutes over the years.
Saturday to Saturday trips to various Caribbean islands usually have a couple of families/groups on the same itin. I'm not surprised that Fri-Sun weekend trips would see the same. |
I was flying NRT-FRA on NH (rare for me), sitting in the emergency exit row. I had a lady sitting next to me that would *sing* during half the flight. I didn't talk with her.
10 days later I was again sitting in the emergency row, this time on the other side, and the same lady was sitting next to me. She wasn't singing this time and we talked for a while, both being completely surprised at the coincidence... I attended one of her performances afterwards as well. HTB. |
Has happened to me, most recently during my MRs to Germany last winter!
It also has happened on my MRs to Chile--either the other folks are mileage runners, or they flew down, had a meeting, and then flew home the same day. |
I had the same guy sitting next to me on a trip to Shanghai last year.

Several times, most recently this summer:
I wanted to get VDBed off DEN-COS. The GA thought she needed 7 volunteers, then didn't need any, then needed 1. Obviously, I thought it should be me -- after all, I was a cocky 1P at the time. Turns out there was a 1K on the route who wanted it, and I got out-statused! Dangit. I grumbled all the way to my seat. Then on the return 2 days later, the guy is hovering next to the podium in COS, and I'm thinking 'great, I'm gonna lose 2 bumps to this guy!' :( But as it turns out, no VDB's were needed on the return. And yes, Randy, if this was you (being your hometown and all), I apologize! But hey, I didn't see a FT tag! |
The UA MHT->ORD->LAX run has enough regulars that there are several people that I've seen multiples times on that trip in both directions.
|
Used to happen to me on a regular basis--I would take a Monday morning BNA-MSP flight on NW, and then a Thursday evening flight back, every week. Eventually I got to know one of my fellow weekly commuters and we'd have dinner together at MSP every Thursday while waiting to go back home to BNA. I've never known him in any other context, and haven't seen him since I stopped going to Minnesota every week. Oddly enough, he is not an FTer, though he probably flies more than I do. Some people just aren't interested.

I see same passengers on flights at least 2-3 times per year. One year when I was doing a commute to TX from CA I used to see the same woman almost every week for about 6 weeks - she was on a similar commute.
On a few occasions have ended up sitting next to people who live within 1 mile of my house, and/or knew many people in common. On a many occasions have I seen the same FA's or crew. Sometimes they remember me, sometimes they don't. Usually on long hauls. |
