I remember earlier threads on this topic.

I know I've flown with EK over Iraq from Dubai to the UK and I am sure they do on the way to many other destinations in Europe.

Here's a pic of the video map that I took during my ORD-DEL. Close, but not quite Iraq.

I have found a quite good source for real flight plans and figured, that indeed civil airliners are crossing the iraqi airspace. I found a KLM flight plan crossing just north of Bagdhad.
Thanks everybody for your input!

Just checked your location AAJetMan. Must have been somewhere near the russian city of Orsk. Sorry buddy, but thatīs roughly some 1000nm away from the iraqi border. I would not consider this "close"

Not sure if it's relevant to your questions, but just so you're aware, there are daily flights into and out of Iraq from Jordan and Turkey.
Erbil, Sulimaniyah and Baghdad are all operating as functional international airports.

Welcome to Flyer Talk EBA
Right - some FTers have flown into Iraq on commercial flights. Currently there is Royal Jordanian Airlines Amman to Baghdad, or Austrian Airlines Vienna to Erbil.
See my Erbil flight report here

I've had a few. I've been working in Saudi Arabia for the past year, and have flown over Iraq from both Dammam and Bahrain to transit in Frankfurt or Amsterdam on my way home to the States.
