FA's whacking aisle passengers

So, why is it I'm always able to walk the aisle the length of the plane without hitting anyone and the people on the planes more than anyone nail anyone who's an inch (at the shoulders) into the aisle?

I had a female FA on NW today hit me at least 5 times. I tried moving in as best I could, but even so she'd bump me going past. Woke me up once, too.

Jeez.

Probably misread the manifest and thought you were a DL Platinum :D

Would it have made any difference if it had been a male FA?

Flip your tic over and read the fine print under Contract of Cartage: "It is forbidden for Self Loading Freight to whine about whackings which do not cause major bleeding and/or broken bones." :D

Along the same lines, i think it's quite silly to have to play frogger with carts in the aisles. Someone airlines do quite well to use baskets and to just carry out orders a few at a time - why do they still lug those giant carts around and whack people with them? I can understand for major food service, but jeeze just carry the drinks.

No. The male FA's on the flight seemed to know how to avoid the passengers.

And.....heh.

Perhaps if you kept your body out of the aisle she wouldn't bump into it. Pretty simple solution. They most commonly ask this during announcements. She can't bump into you if you're not in the aisle. As for what you do when you walk, how can you really tell? She might think the same thing as you.

At least she wasn't crop dusting! ;)

I was waiting for this one.

As I walked back to the lavatory, I noticed about half the people spilling out into the aisle. These days, it's almost impossible to stay in a Y seat, especially if those in the middle seat want/take a little more room.

It's inconsiderate for the FA to ignore and bump into passengers, though. And I'm willing to bet that quite a few who do it do it on purpose.

I actually have a severely bruised cheekbone right now from an UAX flight the other day. The FA informed me (as she was walking to the back of the plane pre-takeoff) that my bag was not far enough under the seat. I bent down to fix that and she came walking back by rapidly and hit my shoulder and back at near full force, slamming my face into the seat back in front of me (the tray table part). My cheek is very sore to the touch and she wasn't very apologetic - also would not get me ice for it when I asked.

It think it is fairly common for people walking in the aisle to bump into seated passengers if they are not careful about how they walk.

Usually it doesn't bother me. However, one time one particular FA was so consistent in bumping me no matter how careful I was, that I pulled up my table from the arm rest (I was in an exit row aisle on AA) and left it in the vertical to use as a shield.

She bumped into that three or four times looking miffed as she did so, but realize, it seemed to me, that there was nothing she could complain about. Finally she adjusted her behavior when passing.

I really don't think she knew that her bustling walk - and she had a considerable bustle :D - was intrusive. Nor do I think she cared much.
