For anything less than a transcon, everyone should stand. Infants, old ladies and pregger moms-to-be included. Then we could pay even less to travel distances in hours that used to months by covered wagon. Do we need we anymore evidence that we have become a nation of softies and whiners? (You there! Are you standing at attention?) funny I'm a teacher too, when you stand most of the day any seat is a bonus!! I have flown 8 hrs TATL then taken a "short" flight of 2 hrs on Southwest the same day and boy did I find the seats uncomfortable, I didnt find recline and couldnt sleep because of the pain in my back so not everyone on a short flight arrived fresh as a daisy for the flight |
I think most economy class seats should be banned period.

If the airlines could find a way to strap people to the walls with velcro I bet they would start doing that tomorrow. And special thanks to the woman in front of me yesterday that politely notified me before reclining, my knees thank you.

you pay for the seat, you have every right to utilize every feature of the seat, including recline.
for the folks that cant handle it, either stop flying or fly in premium cabins, that is life. if you cant afford it, tough luck, maybe in your next life you'll figure it out |

I hope one airline will try your idea and lock all the seats bolt upright so they will go broke and everyone will realize what a miserable idea it is.
