[SIZE="3"]Hey, I truly AM sorry. I take a lot of early morning flights (6 AM or 7 AM) so I take sleeping pills when I get on the plane to catch some zzzzzzs. I have my survival kit ~ eye mask, blow up lumbar support pillow, blow up neck support pillow, ear plugs and a blanket. Naturally, when I get off the plane, I am still half a sleep until I have my first diet cola. SO, the next time you see a Disoriented Oriental stopping and making u-turns, be sure to say "Fly me to the Moon?" and yours truly will be delighted! ;)

So before that Diet Coke, would you be a Disoriental? :):)

The thing I hate about flying is flying in the winter. Granted it doesn't get that cold for most in Seattle but I am a wimp and bundle up. Having to go through the gastapo oops I mean TSA and having to just about completely undress. Coat, off, fleece, off, belt, off, shoes, off, empty out pockets etc...:mad::mad: And it is worse if I am flying out of ORD add gloves, scarf and hat to the list.

Edit: I don't hate it but it is kind of a pain, flying/traveling with the Mister. Maybe one day I'll tell y'all about Vegas Strip and the hot dog stand.

You think that's bad? Try flying with a hang over and no sleep sitting in the middle seat and throwing up ^

No, just dazed and confused. Let us not pick on my people, alas the next time you get Chinese food, what you eat may NOT be what you think. BTW, I am not Chinese but definitely a Mongoloid.

For the record, Frontier, JetBlue, and Virgin America do have first class seating. And there is first class at baggage claim - most airlines have priorty baggage handling so you get your bag on the belt first. And since airlines generally deplane by letting first/biz out before economy, there is, in effect, first class at immigration and customs. When you are first to exit a widebody, you are generally first in line at passport control. And then when your bag comes off the belt first, you are also first in line through customs and re-check, if applicable. As for the rental car busses, true - no first class seating; but that's not a bad idea! And if you are a member of the rental agency's preferred program, you don't have to stand in line at the counter - so there is a kind of first class in that respect.

First and foremost, I do NOT drink coffee. Secondly, I have nothing against first class treatment. I actually enjoy and was fortunate enough to live a first class life style most of my life. It's that I feel bad that not everyone gets to enjoy first class. I heard a girl that was must have been no more than 5 years the other day ask her father while boarding "Daddy, can we fly first class?" As I mentioned ad nauseum, it is a PRIVILEGE, NOT a right. I have an extreme adversion to people who THINK they are first class just because they fly first class. Believe me, I know. I grew up with them. Money and status doesn't necessarily buy you happiness. As a matter of fact, people who THINK and ACT like they are first class have to overcompensate for their short comings. MOST REAL first class people do NOT make a big deal out of it and appreciate being treated first class. It is TRULY unfortunate that there are over a 1,000 people in FORTUNE magazine's global billionaires list when there are billions of people who will NEVER make a million dollars in their life time. And BOOFERif you really don't understand what I am trying to say, read posts
#122, #146 , #152, #160 and #162 and you will get the point. Please try not to be one of the people we are referring to. I do thank you though, for correcting me about the airline seating arrangements. However, even if they DO let you off the plane first, if the airline asks me to let passengers with tight connections deplane first, I wait, even though I may be in first class. Half the time I don't get off the plane because I don't want to be rushed and wait for other people to get off first so I can get my luggage from the overhead at a leisurely pace. (Not to mention I am rather short).

I totally concur. I am more of a t-shirt and shorts guy and traveling to cold spots from Florida (I was in Lincoln, Nebraska 3 weeks ago and it was 0 degrees Farenheit without the windchill factor). Just having to wear a sweater, coats, long-johns, gloves, scarves... Going to the restroom can be a major production. By the way, fly4funsea you do not need to take of watches, belts, cuff links at most airports and I do not even take my toilettry bag out on to the conveyor belt anymore. Since I am talking about TSA (Thousands Standing Around) and Lincoln, Nebraska, I would like to tell you what happened 3 weeks ago. I was flying out of Lincoln Municipal Airport. They have a gift shop right before the security check point so I stopped by and bought a ping pong ball sized snow globe. They started popping up about a year ago and the are ubiquitous. I so far have 7 and counting. {Funny thing is that they are probably manufactured by the same company in China}. Anyway, I bought one for Minnesota at the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport on the way TO Lincoln, and bought one for Nebraska prior to boarding at Lincoln. The airport has 4, yes all of "4" gates with less than a dozen flights in and out each day. I had my rollaboard and went through a security check point manned by ~ you guessed it~ the oh so talented and courteous TSA personnel. This shamu, I mean 350 pound TSA personnel, opens my luggage, takes the 2 ping pong sized souvenir snow globes and throws them in the garbage can. Of course I was livid and immediately requested to see the supervisor. Shamu then started opening my toilettry bag and opens my deodorant, reads all the labels on my prescription bottles, and starts smelling my lotion and mouth wash. When I lost my temper and said "Do I look like someone who is a terrorist? Do you THINK I am going to be able to blow up a plane with 2 mini snow globes?" Another Orca standing by said "if you could tell us EXACTLY how much liquid is in the snow globe" then we can allow you to carry it on. Then they proceeded to tell me that it was in the TSA guidelines. I said I would like to see it and they took out a brochure that said "NO snow globes, regardless of size." At that moment the so called Supervisor showed up wreaking of cigarette smoke and asked me what the problem was. I explained to him the situation and he said it is TSA policy and he said rules cannot be broken. I told him that I travel everyweek and I have NEVER had ANYONE take my mini-snowglobes away. I also showed him my security clearance card and that I HAVE been pre-screened by the TSA. He said Lincoln does NOT have the technology and equipment for bomb checking machines nor do they have any equipment that can confirm a person's security clearance. At that moment I told him that, that does not give Shamu the right nor the authority to read NON-liquid prescription medicine details or go through ALL of my person toilettries. He then proceeded to tell me that the fact all other airports that allow me to carry on the mini-snowglobe are not doing their job and that they are breaking the law. I simply told him that it should be a judgement call and the law according to the TSA brochure should be used as a guideline. I also told him that most airports are too busy handling thousands of passengers to profile an Asian with snowglobes as a terrorist. They have explosive detecting devices rather than over paid, over weight ogre who check out what kind of deodorant and toothpaste a person uses. During this entire time, NOT ONCE did any of the six staff members suggest that I go check my luggage so that I may take home the snowglobes. They were less than $10 for both but I felt violated anyway. They have onc flight every couple of hours, so they are bored out of their minds. I was able to get their names and also a complaint form. It is TRULY disturbing that TSA has NOTHING better to do than go through people's personal stuff when the items clearly meet regulations.

I totally sympathize with you. I have had the same thing happen to me numerous times. My mother actually could not hear on one of her ears and after 2 weeks had to go see a physician to reslove the matter. The next time you have a cold or the flu, trying taking Mucinex D prior to boarding the plane. It will clear your congestion. Also chewing gum during take off and landing seems to clear the ear canals.

SO, Braslvr, what are you trying to say here, that YOU are that SH!T at the airport behind yours truly? I am NOT going to disagree with you~

Two Letters~ AA!!! (and I am not referring to American Airlines). Throwing up on an airplane (unless in cases of extreme turbulence or extreme illness) is simply rude, vulgar and disgusting and should be ONLY done in the toilet. I flew back from Los Angeles to Atlanta on a red eye and had to sit in the middle seat on a 767-300. I had work to do so I sat there with my laptop and had 3 Heinekens. I had maybe 15 minutes of shut eye, changed planes and for the first time in my life had a Heineken from Atlant to Orlando on a 7:20 AM flight. THAT was fun. The flights were okay but those flight attendant grandmas get awfully cranky and nasty on redeyes. No more redeyes for me. What a NIGHTMARE.

It was fun while it lasted, but this will be my last post on Flyer Talk since my First Amendement was violated. I had posted a response to a post personally attacking me and his post was untouched while mine was censored and deleted. If fair and uncensored posting is not allowed here then I don't think I belong here. By the way, my response was not offensive or crude. I did not use any foul or profane language. :confused:Safe travels!

This is a private website. The First Amendment does not apply -- it is a restriction on government, only.

It is thanks to close and careful moderation that FT remains as valuable a resource as it is. If you want an unmoderated free-for-all, and all that implies, try rec.travel.air.
