Lost bag?

My recent trip to England couldn't have been worse. On the flight over to Amsterdam from the United States, I carried on my garment bag with two suits, one sportcoat, three shirts, a pair of trousers and a couple of neckties. I was ready to stow the bag above the seat, but there was no room and the flight attendant took the bag -- this was the last time I saw it.

She was supposed to stow it underneath in the baggage hull, but I never received my bag in Amsterdam and the airline hasn't been able to find it. It appears that someone helped themselves to my clothing!

Anyways, it ruined my trip to Blackpool, England. I had little suitable clothing for business (luckily I packed my shoes in my other checked bag and I wore an old sportcoat on the flight over, so I at least had the basics). The clothing situation in Blackpool is dreadful, but I managed to find a suitable shirt (which was a task itself) and a couple of ties, which wasn't easy because the airline said I could only spend 100 euros on clothing replacement each day for a total of 300 euros -- which isn't easy. I managed to get by with my old sportcoat for two days, but finally had enough and found a blazer at the British equivalent of TJ Maxx.

To make a long, long story short ... I'm writing a complaint to the airline today -- seeking full reimbursement for all items lost. Does anyone know the laws regarding claims with international flights originating in the U.S.?

For sure your payment for overseas flight is far less than what you would recieve domestically. Signed - someone who's bag disapeared completely.
