Bahrain camera prices?

Hi

I will be in Bahrain next week for a business trip from the UK. I am thinking about buying a camera, specifically the Canon ELPH800 (known as IXUS 850is in UK). This costs Ł200 in the UK - will I be able to get it cheaper there and will it have the UK electrical plug? I am also thinking about doing a BAH-DOH-BAH TP run so would DOH be any cheaper?

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure about the prices, but the plug shouldn't be a big issue as replacements can be found for $1+ on ebay

IMHO, with a very few exceptions, there is no place cheaper to buy tech goods than the USA. For starters check out Amazon.com. Of course, if you are not going to visit the US ...

I am surprised actually that someone has not come up with the idea of Travel to the US for stuff tours. Especially from Great Britain.

How it works:

You get a cheap flight from The UK to NYC.

You stay in a relatively modest Hotel in NYC

Family of Four

You buy a ton of stuff in NYC using your duty free allowance

You get back to the UK. You just got a free vacation in NYC with your family for the price of the stuff you just bought.....and then some.

If I was a BRIT i wouldnt buy anything except for the basic necessities in the UK. In fact I would probably kill my own food and brew my own beer.

ADVICE:

Get to know an american (a trustworthy one) and have them bring you back all the stuff you need with their duty allowance. Even if they charge you a small convenience charge you will still be making off like a bandit.

How much do Levi's cost in the UK again?

Been there done that. In fact there have been hordes of Brits going over to NYC for shopping ever since the rate went above $1.9:Ł1. Now its something like items in $ are the same cost in Ł in the UK.

Unfortunately I am not going there next week... so getting back on track, anyone got experience of Bahrain?
