Really cheap RTWs

The real penny-pincher can now travel around the world entirely on low-cost carriers. Minimal proof:

* London-Gatwick to Hong Kong on Oasis
* Hong Kong to Vancouver on Oasis
* Vancouver to London-Gatwick on Zoom

Rather more interesting:

* London-Gatwick to Hong Kong on Oasis
* Hong Kong to Singapore on JetStar
* Singapore to Melbourne on Tiger
* Melbourne to Honolulu on JetStar
* Honolulu to Vancouver on WestJet
* Vancouver to London-Gatwick on Zoom

Here's an INCOMPLETE collection of USA originating RTW and Circle fares I put together some time ago. There are undoubtedly some fares that have gone up since this was assembled; however some (like the SQ stand-alones) have gone down a little too. But don't trust - verify. It's incomplete in that I haven't included a number of the 2-party RTWs mentioned (like VS/TG or CX/UA) since I couldn't (easily) find the rules. Doesn't mean they're not there, just me lazy.

Note that Skyteam RTW fares are the same as the "World Perks" RTWs (CO, KL, MH, AS, EK, NW...) for the same class/mileage brackets.

Note also that I've just shown one carrier, while in most cases several carriers publish the fare and rules. The rules are not always the same between carriers for the same product, so use caution.

I nearly ticketed a QF/LY/FJ D class RTW earlier this year - ticket must be issued by first over-water carrier, which in our case would have been LY, who didn't know much (i.e., nada) about the product. QF had no problem ticketing a westbound departure from the US.

. I really want to do a QF/LY/FJ but my first over-water would also have to be LY. (MIA or JFK-TLV)

Does anyone know if the SQ/CO RTW still exists? What a great RTW if you could use CO's Micronesia routes.

I got frustrated with LY's Israeli call center; if you could go into a CTO or know a TA who's fluent with LY bookings, I'm sure you could work something out. For me it was a marginal call in the first place, so I gave up rather quickly.

I don't see SQ advertising the CO RTW any more on their RTW website - http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_U...otions/rtw.jsp - so suspect it's defunct. However, the "World Perks" (aka "Flying Dutchman," "Passport," other names) is chock full of Pacific region carriers, including CO, FJ, TN, Air Vanuatu, Air Calin, Polynesian... so may be worth a look.

Hi bhd87, I've just been offered a 12pct flat discounts on certain published RTWs including I believe UA/EK ex USA from a fellow travel agent. Dunno if it helps but that would bring the fare to under $4k.

I came across one very strange offering (admittedly not RTW, but cirlce) out of NAN (Fiji).
Fare Code: JAP6M on PR/AA/QF/CI/FJ Circle Pacific. $4880 AUD. This seems to be an old fare.

ZRWESC (VS/NZ) out of NAN is priced at AUD5500. So not too bad.

I have had trouble finding Australian pricing info about QF/LY fare, but will keep searching.

goback,

$3550 USD ex-NAN in J or $5140 in F for SQ/NZ "JOINT CIRCLE ASIA ESCAPADE FARE"

$4675 USD ex-NAN in J for SQ/NZ/VS "JOINT ROUND - THE WORLD FARE"

JAP6M seems interesting (or $6079 in F). If you need its fare rules, I can post them for you.

$6770 USD ex-SYD in J for the UA/EK RTW or $7325 USD ex-SYD in J for the TN/EK RTW are also interesting.

VERY interesting thread that consolidates info in ways much more useful than searching through various other threads and sites. It opens up some doors for me in terms of future trips. Thanks for starting it!

Please note that the EK/UA RTW has greatly risen in price. EK has posted C class at ~$8000, and Y at ~$4000. United prices have still yet to be released, but one would assume they will be the same. Sad.
