No XM today....

Hope no one used an upgrade to rent a vehicle with XM radio today. They are upgrading their system and with that upgrade, they are down perhaps until tomorrow according to their technical support reps.

It's not everywhere -- it seems to affect the XM3 sat and the ground repeaters the most.

It works in Southwest Oregon as of two hours ago. Funny, I just activated it yesterday. I'll be spending more time behind the wheel than I'd like this year.

Check this out: XMSCION03 promotion code gets you free activation and the first three months free. It works for online registration too.

The "upgrade" is them BS'ing you.

One of their satellites is out of operation and they are scrambling to fix it.

No company schedules an upgrade in the middle of the day that shuts down most of the country.

Some of their terrestrial stations are fine, and they still have another "bird". The one that is down mainly covers the midwest.

It covers New England too, as I have 2 radios (1 in RI and 1 in CT) which were both down!

Uh, did you know you can listen to the traffic and weather reports for the city you'll be visiting if you turn on the XM traffic/weather stations?

Just got this e-mail from XM

I agree. Although you can get traffic reports for some cities (such as Boston), I normally do not listen to that station, as much of my driving is in and around Providence (~90 miles south) and is not included in the Boston area traffic reports.

I do hope it's up soon. I just attempted it around 9:40 AM, and (at least for me) it's still down!

How come someone in SJC received an email from XM, but someone in PVD (who is affected by the outage) did not?

They're BSing everybody. It's down again today.

Oddly enough, I had coverage in NJ both yesterday and today. In NYC, nothing. In NJ, there is coverage.
