G550
Hey all,
Im getting really tired of my G550 and looking to trade it in for a BBJ.
Okay honestly, how much does a G550 cost? I know the price depends on options, etc., but what is the "base" cost? Im see ~$59m and ~$40m on different sites.
I beleive a BBJ starts at $42M.
Why would someone choose a G550 over a BBJ? It seems that the BBJ is much more popular, seeing that there are only 100 G550s registered in the US, with 25 belonging to Gulfstream, according to wikipedia.
I know the G500 is ~$36M, so thats a totally different league...like EXP vs. GOLD.
The BBJ has such a presence...and its huge. The G550 is nice...but it ain't that big.

controller.com has a 2008 with 0 TT for $55million. that's probably base. There's a 2005 on there for $59 million. Which plane depends on the mission. I don't know the specs for a G550 but I remember hearing from a GV pilot that you can fly from KLAX to LHR and have KJFK as the alternate. I doubt a BBJ can do that. (Note, I didnt' check the accuracy of this). Same can be said for why get a King Air when you can get a CJ1+. Well the Pilatus can carry more and is much less expensive to fly and (a guess) much easier to get it certified for single pilot.
