On NW I always get a full can of soda. Sometimes I have to ask, but often the FA will offer it to me.
|
I love that Jet Blue ad.
When the customer asks for a full can of soda, we leave the can..... It's way too funny. |
Midwest gives a full can and they come back to ask if you want seconds.
|
It's a security issue.

I usually say something like "to save you the trouble of having to come back to refill it."

I had that happen a few years ago on an Aeroflot flight. Asked for a full can. The stare that I received instead drilled through my skin, bone marrow, sole (both mine and that of my ancestors) and emerged out of my back.
I did however get the can. But by that time, I felt like I needed a hug more than anything else. |
My very first inflight coke (on my third flight ever, actually), on a BA 757 from LHR to OSL, some 8 years ago, I was handed a glass , and a can of coke.. However, there was exactly enough coke in the can to fill up the glass, so even though I got the whole can, there was only one drink anyway..
With the ice in the glass, the coke got all the way to top, and not one millimeter below!! Then there was some slight turbulence, forcing me to take a sip to not spill the coke.. On my later flights (mostly domestic SAS/Braathens, and now SAS Braathens in Norway), while they were still giving away free soda, they always gave away the whole can.. |
Guys, the trick is asking for Diet Coke! They'll always give you the can when asking for Diet Coke!
|
Yes, I think the airline in question sounds like budgeTED, but even TED will budge if ask for can nicely. Besides, that's a perk of Economy Plus, free refills! ;)

I committed the sin of the century. I asked for a full can of Coke rather than just a glassful. The look on the FA's face was one of shock and outrage. She then informed me I could not have an entire can to myself. Yes, she did.
Oh, how I regret my greedy request.

Not that I drink Coke, but I've had this situation with water before. Used to just bring my own 1-litre bottle of water aboard (and I drink the whole thing, and look for more during a transatlantic flight) but they won't let us do that anymore :(

Would you believe that I actually did argue this point with a FA whose argument was that the metal from the can could be used to create a jagged edge to slit her throat. By the time she finished explaining, I could understand why she held that fear... :p

I always ask for the whole can, and usually they give it to me. If they don't, I ask for a glass of diet coke every 30 minutes. I'm addicted to diet coke. :)

I suffer from the reverse problem! Rarely, do I drink a full can of coke at once. I always ask for "just a cup of coca cola, please" and about 1/2 the time they hand me a full can.
Ironically, a few FA's have given me dirty looks when I handed the can back to them. :D |
NW always gives the can, BA too I think. KLM pour from a 1.5L bottle.
On NW double spirits all around on TATL, BA you usually have to ask in Y normal, but usually get doubles if in prime seats, exit row etc. KLM give you the death stare if you ask for doubles. |
