That bit confuses me as I was told as a B2 holder that the 180 days is the max time per rolling 365 days, not per trip (and it is my job to ensure I don't violate it). I do know there is a way to extend it by sending your I94 stub to Mesquite, TX along with around $200. The reason I know this is my parents spend 6 months per year (2 x 3 month stays) in the U.S. on their B2 but consulted an immigration lawyer about extending their stay.

I think the same rules apply in reverse for me in France. Before my VISA was approved, I nearly exceeded my allowed time.

I had several trips during 6 months, never more than 2-3 weeks each, but quickly came to have spent almost the 90 days. As a result, I had to stay out of France (or any other schengen country) for 90 days. THEN the clock restarted and I could come back. The rule is 90 days in a YEAR, not 180. And you must spend 90 days away. In other words you can't stay 89 days, leave for a weekend and come back.

According to the website it takes around 5 working days to process after you have been interviewed.

I believe The_Banking_Scot is spot on with his post. Neither the US Customs and Border Protection nor the US Department of State mention more than a ninety day limit per tourism or business entry to the USA in their pages; no mention is made of any limit on how many =< 90 day visits may be made within any period of time. It is mentioned your passport must be valid for six months beyond your entry date to the USA.

US Department of State Visa Waiver Program page

CBP Visa Waiver FAQ

U S Citizenship and Immigration Services Nonimmigrant Visa Classifications

You can download the PDF version of the Visa Waiver Program Traveler Guide by right clicking (or otherwise saving the target file) here.

No disrespect to anyone here intended, but I highly recommend getting something definitive in writing from CBP agent if there is any variance in what you are told (like a 180 day limit) with what is written on the official websites - and as opposed to relying on differing opinions on FlyerTalk or the idea that US VWP might have similar requirements to France's maximum stay requirements, or anyone' else's.

I'm going to try and get one. Just need to ask a few Qustions.

1) How longs does it take to get one roughly ?

2) How much does it cost.

3) How long is the Interview wait and how long is the main interview

4) What do they ask you in the inverview.

Thanks

Ross.

One thing I've noticed is that the more frequently you visit, the less questioning you seem to get. I've done 11 trips since the middle of last year and it seems to get easier to get past the INS folks as time goes on.

I got queried rather heavily in ORD last year after 3 trips (2 business, 1 pleasure) with bizarre questions like "how do they feel about you being out of the office so much?" And "can you tell me the dates of your last visit to the USA?" (No, of course I bloody can't, I was travelling abroad weekly at that stage...)

Never actually not got through, though. And now I have a passport without visas for Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Morocco, Malaysia et al, I get questioned a lot less.

My passport shows more than 20 Visa Waiver entries since the program began. I have never had an issue with entry or ever been questioned beyond the usual screening questions. Many of my stamps have been for multiple entries in the same 90 day period. At one time I was spending 2 weeks in the USA and then 2 weeks at home on a cycle for about 5 months.

When you were in and out of the usa, you had no problems at all, they did not check about your previous visitis ?
