I'd like a curved shower rod, but it would have to be a concave one. That way, I'd have more room to brush my teeth. :)

I tend to stay in hotels with glass shower doors, so I've not really got an opinion either way. I do hate it when I get a room with a normal shower curtain and I brush / touch it, though - so I could imagine them being useful.

I stood in the shower thinking about this this morning. If the shower rod is mounted slightly away from the tub (further out from the tub) with a curtain then angled into the tub (actuall, a curtain inside and a curtain outside), then it serves to have the same effect as a curved rod (keeping it away from the body) but, I suspect, at a fraction of a curved rod cost.

I love having a curved shower curtain rod in our bathroom at home. (Ok, that just doesn't sound right...)

Curved ones sell for about $40 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. We picked up one when we were house-hunting a few years ago, and that was one of the first things Mr. Kipper had to install when we bought our house. We have a fairly small shower, so it's a nice addition.

They are great. Makes it feel bigger than it is while not taking up space when you aren't using it.

I guess as I took my shower this morning I couldn't work out what having a curved one would add (mine is offset slightly further out from the tub at home). The curtain would necessarily fall in the same place to be within the tub, so unless the curtain fell outside the tub, it wouldn't give any additional space.

The curved rod would give slightly more space to the arms, torso and above.. generally used for aesthetics..

But that is what I am saying, by having the rod further out away from the tub, the whole space in the tub is increased, not just the centre area.

U/. Where U is the tub, and / is the curtain, the narrowest bit of the curtain is hugging the inside of the tub, the top is several inches beyond the tub - ie as far out as the curve would be, but for the whole length of the tub.

I have a curved shower rod. I like it. I find it to be a big improvement over the older straight ones. I have had no problems with it. I don't stick to the new curtain. I haven't experienced any wet floors. Yet - I am not satisfied. It could be better. Does anyone know if I can get one designed with a "hinge" in the middle of the rod which would allow me to press the rod and curtail a bit back into the tub thus increasing the space available for flailing about while drying off?
