Anyone read the write up on MaxJet?
Its in the October issue of Business Traveler magazine. Which is not available online yet but if you receive this magazine the article is interesting. Basically the guy receives terrible service. The flight attendant curcses and annouces how she is quitting anyway. When he asks for breakfast they say" Too late its already been served" I think my favorite part is when the PR person for the company said she was going to say they were "drunk or on drugs during the flight" when she realized there was nothing she could do to stop him to publishing the article. I wont be flying that one.

Wow.. Good to know. The couple reviews on FT weren't that bad.
BTW EOS sale is on for another 2 days. They certainly know what they're doing onboard and on the ground.

I don't know if I buy that. there was another hatchet job done in british press about 3 months ago. Reporter on a BUSINESS trip was delayed 2 1/2 hours on ground at departure. She wrote a long, very negative article because she was delayed 2 1/2 hours.
Have 2 sets of friends who have used the service from IAD. these are old, crotchy, .....y people who think they are special. they thought maxjet was just fine. "maybe not up to UA or BA in biz, but what the hell...$999"
Hope to fly maxjet as soon as the sale of my factory is complete.
by the way, a third all biz class nyc-lon is comming on line. silverwheels or some such. have a 767 with flat seats.

MAXjet is not well funded, nor is it designed to be an excellent experience. It's designed to be slightly nicer flying for the masses. But with that being the case, I think the article was probably very real, albeit perhaps slightly exaggerated. It could be a sign of how bad it could get with that mentality.
Silverjet is priced in between MAXjet and EOS. Originall I wasn't sure that was feasible, but maybe they can survive if they start out well, and the experience is decent.

I just read it after picking up BT in the DCA Crown Room.
That is one heck of an article.
I would expect that the CEO (Gary Rogliano) was disciplined by the BOD for his reckless attempted manipulation of the press. I am surprised this was not picked up by other media outlets. It certainly should be used in b-school classes as a perfect example of how not to handle the press.

I flew Maxjet about a month back and was very impressed. I've experienced c and f service on a wide variety of carriers so have good range to compare it with. My JFK-STD flight was diverted to Manchester because of fog and the fact that another aircraft got emergency clearance to land (low on fuel) - Manchester that morning was packed with diverted aircraft (eos/BA/etc.) so I took that in stride. There are some minor things I would improve but for the fare it is an incredible value. I found the seats aactually very comfortable and slept very well (I'm 6'4).
The article in business traveller is a clear hatchet job.

hatchet job???
The actual review is irrelevant...though it certianly reads credibly to me. What happened afterward tells me all I need to know about the leadership at Maxjet. And I happen know the founders fairly well and think they are very nice people. Additionally, my one flight with Maxjet was quite good. Notwithstanding that, the way the "leadership" handled this situation was represehnsible.
Do you honestly think the author flat-out lied about the bribes and threats that the CEO's representative threw at him? If not (and I assume you dont think the author lied), then this was not a hatchet job.

I read the article, and I doubt it was a hatchet job. For one thing, the reviewer is a regular writer for the magazine and reviews flights and hotels in almost every issue, and he has never written a review like this before, so I am sure that he did have a truly negative experiance on the flight, with some allowance for artistic license. Plus its clear that the magazine did its homework on this before publishing the review. All that being said, most of what I've heard about Maxjet has been positive, and if the opportunity comes up, I will certainly give them a try.
