US to Japan
First of all, let me say that I'm not sure this is the right place for my message. Please move it accordingly, thanks.
Anyways, right now I am seeing fares for around $1000 from SFO to NRT r/t outbound on Dec 31 or Jan 01 and returning Jan 09. The airlines all have the fall fare sales now, but I was wondering what to expect in terms of sales after the fall fares are gone. I know that New Years is one of Japans busiest travel seasons (but I will be going in just after, so inbound hopefully isn't an issue).
Thanks for your help!

I'm looking for the same dates again this year, and while I've not yet given up on hoping for some more drops later, if I see something that looks decent I plan to jump on it. And if it drops just call in and get the difference in one form or another.
I have noticed that the dates I want are about $60 cheaper now than they were last week, for whatever that's worth.

If the fare is the most important, don't forget consolidators -- they sell the bulk of the SFO/NRT tickets. Consolidator tickets, while rarely upgradeable, often qualify for FF miles.
