class warfare and daxomni

I can't imagine why the well-reasoned, well-written thread by DaxOmni was closed. You let people call coach passengers "lice" for days on end, and question whether children should be "allowed" in first/business class, but for some reason, his pointing out arrogance and a growing sense of entitlement in Americans is offensive? How so?!

If you want to discuss this with the moderators, the best way to do it is by PM. You'll find their screen names at the bottom of this forum.

I found it odd that the thread was shut down. I disagreed with him, but I recognize his view.

It's not like we (Americans) care about what anyone think.

I'd be much more offended if someone called my wife/kids "lice" because they ride in coach than if someone called Americans "arrogant" or "entitled."

Because the former is rude and the second is code for "I live with my parents. In France."

Oh, yeah, <smiley>.

It struck me more as an attempt to revive/continue a thread which was a beaten, dead horse, although that new thread did cloak itself as being "well-reasoned". Since the initial thread was closed, shutting down an attempt to side-step that closing seemed reasonable to me.

If you want to continue that debate, Omni awaits you. This thread, on the other hand, probably belongs in ORP.

I never received any explanation for why my thread was locked, but I guess I can figure it out. Alternative views are apparently unwelcome here. Talk about an intentionally insulated crowd. How did we get a readership that's so highly educated and yet so completely unprepared for honest dialog with someone outside of the miles click?

I'm a non-member of that clique, I don't fly premium classes, I don't fly for work, I don't fly mileage runs, I'm almost always in economy or premium economy - and therefore I'm in exactly the same boat as the OP on that thread.

And I didn't agree with him either.

Says a lot for the strength (or lack of it) of his argument, on its merits. That's probably why he got such a universally negative response from a wide cross-section of posters.

And I'm now counting the seconds until this thread gets locked, too.

One of the mods sent me a PM saying my thread would be re-opened, but it still looks closed to me.

Leave the question why the thread was closed in the first place. Yes, I know that it was closed pending review.........but for what reason?
