Using Embassy to Insert Additional Pages in Passport
I understand that many embassies and consulates will insert the additional pages overnight (or within a reasonable time) without charge. I plan upon taking advantage of the service on my next trip to Singapore. Unfortunately, I have to also make some calls during my visit that require a fairly official piece of ID-Texas Driver's License not accepted. Do you know if the embassies issue a document indicating that the passport holder's papers are being processed and until returned, this document will suffice?
thanks
thanks

You may want to review the lengthy thread on adding pages to passports that has been running for a full year now:
Getting pages added to US Passport - any idea how long?
I had mine done in Sydney and left with the extra pages less than an hour after I arrived.

4th insert?
I'm down to the last two pages of my third insert and have another 1.5 years on my passport. The last time I went for an insert, the Madrid Consulate told me that's the last insert I can get and I'll have to get a new passport next time. Is there anyone else who's had success getting a fourth insert in an American station abroad?
I don't mind getting a new one but it won't be until four months from now when travel slows down and I can give up my passport for renewal. Thanks.

I know that it is crazy but I prefer spending as little time in immigration lines and answer as few questions as possible. I realized that I need a second passport after visiting Israel with a Lebanese stamp in my passport and spending an hour questioned by three immigration agents at TLV.

Took me an 30 mins at Santo Domingo. In a funny twist... I found out I went to High School with one of the staffers there, and I had previously dated the Ambassadors daughter (before he was Ambassador)

Regarding additional inserts I looked around and found this note on the official sites of several US embassies:
There is no legal limit to the number of times pages may be added. If your passport has become so thick it is hard to use, we recommend that you apply to get a replacement.
http://bandar.usembassy.gov/add_pages_to_passport.html
Also, there is no limit specified on the DS-4085 form used within the US for additional visa pages.
