Slightly OT -- I did that with quarters from slot machines. TSA @ RNO had a fit about all that loose change! I was lectured by the screener about putting them in a separate baggie (I had dumped them all in one small inner compartment of the briefcase-type bag).

Back on topic -- I don't generally tip housekeeping. I've gotten in the habit of scooping my change into my pocket when I go down to breakfast in case housekeeping tries to start cleaning despite the DO NOT DISTURB indication. Before some folks start imagining me typing this with green-furred fingers amidst hoisted holiday gifts, I am quite generous with charitable donations.
