Checked-in luggage minimum size?
Hi All,
I was wondering if a Samsonite vanity suitcase would be to small to be checked in? Does anybody know if there are minimum size requirements for checked luggage?
btw. I am flying out on AA tommorrow.
Thanks.

Once I checked in an extremely small, soft snorkeling bag with some snorkeling equipment in it that looked like this:

The check in agent called a manager and he gave it an "ok" ^

Some airports with a very sophisticated baggage handling systems have a minimum weight of what can be checked-in (don't know about size), I think it's something like 3 or 4 kilos minimum.
If the weight is less the system won't be able to sort the luggage properly.

I once checked a cardboard box that was about 8 inches long, 5 inches wide and 3 inches deep. It contained an expensive corkscrew that obviously couldn't be carried on. No problems: It had that bright orange checked baggage tape wound around it and off it went; and it arrived safely. (BA, IAD-LHR.)

What condition was your snorkel in when you claimed it?

I'd protected the snorkel / mask pretty well (wrapped in layers of paper etc) and the case was fine
