PAL Televisions in the US...

Anyone know if cheap PAL compatible televisions are sold in the US? I'm looking for small/portable/color, and cable ready to bring back to Angola.

Cheers,

Nothing you can easily find in the general market, but you may have a better
luck online or from an Indian Electronics store.

What part of US are you planning to visit?

Other option would be a good TV tuner and an LCD or Plasma display and/or
Porjector.

I live in the US. I'm just over here a lot this year. I am in a remote area and TVs are hard to locate. Figure it would be easier to find one in the US and bring it back. Guess I'll have to wait till I do a stopover in Luanda, or Europe.

Tuner/projector option sounds interesting. Especially since I am sure I could write off the projector cost.

Also lookinto a mediacenter PC then. you can write that off too as a PC.
(may be a notebook shall do too)

and the combo would be light weight to carry compared to a TV.

don't bother

There are several "tuners" on the market, not sure what their real name is, but they allow you to use many different country's tv broadcasts, the draw back is they cost as much or more than the tv.

There's a few PAL/NTSC/SECAM converters on the market. Some consumer models are as cheap as $100. Can't vouch for the video quality, though, but it's a down and dirty way to be able to hook up all your equip. from around the world to one TV.

for ex.: http://www.tenlab.com/

Yeah, there are a few NTSC-to-PAL convertors out there but I haven't seen them in years - had one once upon a time when I've had to play PAL E-180 VHS tapes on NTSC.
