Does anyone have any information about tickets around the world? Does one have to have it all pre-planned or is there any such ticket where one can just show up at the airport and go somewhere with a pre-paid around the world ticket?

AFAIK there are no RTW tickets that allow a completely flexible routing as you suggest.
With the OneWorld RTW you can set it up with a set itinerary in mind. Date and time changes are free of charge. You can change the routing at an additional cost of US$125 per ticket change, plus applicable taxes (subject to availability in the selected class).
