Welcome to Flyertalk !
As you are new, you need to understand that fares quoted vary from day to day for the various combinations of flights. So just look in a few common places to start with.
The only direct operator from New York to Helsinki is Finnair, so best start with their website and check what fare they quote. Play around with different dates out/return, get a fare, then go back and look at other dates.
Then move on to the bulk web retailers. Different people have different favourites but you can try Travelocity and Opodo, there are others.
Note how sometimes the cheaper deals are for connecting flights, pay close attention to the flight times, it can be many hours more (in some cases an overnight stop) for a minimal difference. Sometimes they spring on you extra charges, like supplements for ticket delivery, right at the end of the booking process just as final payment is calculated.
In the end you just have to weigh up which has the best combination of price and convenience.
