Name On E-Ticket
Hi all,
Just looking for clarification on names on tickets.
I booked a ticket through an online travel agent and received an e-ticket from them. I just want to check if the name layout is ok....
say for example (as not giving my real name), my name is John Smith
On the E-Ticket, its down as...
SMITH/JOHNMR
Does it matter that the MR is connected to the forename? as on other tickets I have had in the past, its been shown as SMITH/JOHN MR - notice the space between forename and title (from a different travel agent)
Just wondering if its something I should sort out or I am worrying over nothing?!
Cheers Everyone

No problem
Having Smith/JohnMR is nothing to be worried about. When the travel agent books the trip he or she selects the salutation and airlines are smart not to worry about it. So as long the last name and first name match your ID you will be fine. I have had this on a boarding pass and there was no problem.

Welcome to FF. I would not worry too much about that mistake. It is clearly a mistake that every one will recognize. I have travelled before with my name mispelled. As long as it is close, the agents will see the mistake.

(BTW I agree with those who have already told you not to worry about this. I am confidant you won't have any problems because of the attached MR.)

welcome to FT.
I don't think its a mistake at all (maybe just how the airlines process things) because for years my tickets have been showing SMITH/JOHNMR or even SMITH/JOHNJAMESMR (if my middle name was James)
So, no worries.
Cheers

Mistake? I thought having MR (for a male) attached to one's first name was SOP. I'm now looking at my documents for two upcoming trips.
One was made through a travel agent. On the itinerary provided by the TA, I'm down as SMITH/JOHN MR, but on the airline's online Travel Reservations Details I'm down as SMITH/JOHNMR.
The other trip I made online directly with the airline. I'm down as SMITH/JOHNMR.
You have nothing to worry about.

Are you sure that's not the TA's way of telling airline personnel that you're on a Mileage Run?
The only reason I can think of for concern is if you present as female.

My tickets never have MS though!
But they do always say <lastname>/CHRISTINER (R is my middle initial) and my husband's is always <lastname>/LANCEA (A is his middle initial). Never seems to make a difference and is a much nicer change of pace from when most people call me Christina instead of Christine, regardless of how slowly I say it!

But seriously, you don't give an airline affiliation in your profile, but if you ever fly AA - or ever intend to - stop in and see us some time.
