Spanair is pretty good, I haven't flown them myself in a year but then their business product was excellent. You'll find a lot of threads about Spanair in the SAS Eurobonus forum!

Welcome to FT!

Yes a few times in both C and Y.
Where are you travelling to/from? and what class? That way I can provide some more information.
Here are some general observations:

In terms of seat in Y and C both are the same (as for most European airlines) with the exception that the middle seat in C is kept free and so the A and B seats get more width.

Food service: in Y pay-for-everything in C depending on the time of day and length of flight a hot meal or a tiny snack box containing minature sandwiches.

The cabin crew on Spanair tend to be rather unfriedly at best, rude at worst. Don't expect much and maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Spanair do have a nice lounge in MAD wich never seems to be very crowded. Good choice of drinks but snack/food itmes limited. An old PC with free internet and a large range of newspapers (in Spanish, English, French. German...) are available.

On the routes I fly I get the choice between Jk (Spanair) and LH....I always make sure I use LH....

Spanair is good. The staff are friendly and good to work with ( esp when late/missed a flight), and the overall product is nice for flying the short hauls. I at first flew Iberia between Madrid and Barcelona, and then back to Madrid on Spanair which I now prefer between the two.

I would recommend Spanair anytime. Much, much better than Iberia.

Fleet consists of both rather old MD8x, and newer A320.

I find their cabin crew to be some of the most friendly in Europe. Never had a bad experience with any of them, and I fly 4x/week over the last year or so.

Please see my comprehensive, illustrated trip report here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=483362

Spanair.. member of Star Alliance.. are just the best you can get from an airline for Service, Attention and punctuality.. why? Because: Low fare class.. If you travel business class inside spain and you are delayed 15 min. they give you a free ticket in same class and sector. If economy.. they give you 20% discount on next ticket

Salute. ^

I am a very frequent JK flyer and a big fan of their 'business restricted' fares offered on many routes. They are a fully held subsidarary of the SAS group and while I do greatly prefer their A320 machines over their MD80s I highly recomend them.

I have only on one occasion not been satisfied with a flight crew and that was on one of those days where it was obvious that what could go wrong did though.

You do not mention routing but if MAD is involved they also have a gained a great benefit recently by remaining in Terminal 2 after IB moved to the new T4. T2 is connected to the metro wheras you must take a 15 minute additional bus conection to T4 and by taxi is 7 minutes closer and 5 euros less expensive to city centre. The security lines are almost non-existant.

The only remaining negative to be worked on is baggage handling were you sometimes must wait a little to long.
