How does an FA get fired???

Not sure if this is the right place from this thread or not, but, after reading the "close your bins in J" thread today in the AA forum, I began to wonder what it would take for a FA to get fired???

I'm assuming that theft, failure to pass a drug test, or constant and habitual tardiness and absenteeism would do the trick, but for what other reason can they be let go? It certainly seems that blatent rudeness and hostility toward pax go unchallenged, so those things are apparently considered acceptable by the airlines.

What does it take??

One of the more common ones of late since the US has made it mandatory for all airline crew to attend personal interviews at US Embassies abroad prior to having their class D visa renewed is "failure to obtain travel documentation". The denial rate for crew visas is actually around 10% (meaning that 1 in 10 FAs will have their visa denied at some point - a number that seems high but isn't really when taken in contrast with the 55% worldwide refusal rate for all US NIVs).

How does an FA get fired???

Prior to deregulation they were deplaned, but now they are just grounded.

Yeah... that woman was "almost" asking to be fired. The internet is a very public place and anyone posing pictures in their company's uniform(airline or otherwise) on company property should know better. Not to mention the fact that her pictures are not circulating on hardcore adult Bittorrent websites like Emp***ium.

Although I don't know anything of the details, it wouldn't surprise me in the least to find that there were also deeper management/disciplinary waters beneath the superficial issue about those photos. I personally doubt that they were the sole reason, even if they were the last straw.

I don't know the underlying reasons, but one thing is for sure. It's stupid for DL to fire her. She's been on various TV shows, she's publishing a book, etc... What does DL get out of this? Legal fees and distraction, which I don't think they need right now. Also shows DL as a stiff, non-fun airline to the public.

Isn't also not maintaing your weight, which gets a lot of media attention, another reason.

How does an FA get fired???

All an FA has to do to get fired is piss off Martinis at 8. I have gotten several and all who have ever pissed me off fired at several airlines.

The lesson here is that if you are an FA, and posting on FT, it is best that you make friends with Martinis at 8

I suspect that performing a sex act in the cockpit of a plane in the air is probably a good candidate for at least a nice suspension.

On US airlines? Doubt that. Lawsuit the very next day that the FA would win.
