Lufthansa First Class vs Virgin Upper Class?
Hi
I was wondering if someone can give me a good comparison on Lufthansa's first class and Virgin Upper Class. I know that both seats are flat beds but Virgin Upper Class has more privacy as 1 configuration is available. I have heard good reviews on both classes but I would like to know which is better, preferably by someone who has flown both airlines . I will be traveling alone, and I basically will be taking the transatlantic route.
thanks

LH is a much better product.Beds are nicer and on an a 340/330 try to get the window seat as configuration is 1-2-1 .Also LH service and food are much much better.

As a bed VS has the better product. It is a real mattress (the seat flips over to make the bed). For all other aspects, LH is better (and their new F terminal in FRA is superb, however the VS Clubhouses are not too shabby and better than the other (non-FRA F) LH lounges). Also technically VS is J and not F (though priced like F, higher than most J fares). Service on VS is hit and miss, and the food is eclectic (LH has quite good food and much better than VS). But those VS beds are fantastic (also being installed by NZ and AC, from the same manufacturer, apparently VS didn't get an exclusive license, unlike BA for their J beds).

I flew from Singapore to Frankfurt in First Class (LH777) and I have to say that I did not think much of their F service. Also I did not like the F cabin upstairs in the 747-400. Singapore Airlines is far better as to the seating and on board service.
Maybe it is just that I have been totally unlucky not getting the proper FAs. I found the service was truly disappointing. The FAs did not seem to care much on that particular flight. One LH F matron was so unpleasant, she got close to being unbearable. They prefer serving the men over having to take care of a woman, this was totally obvious.
The ground service and especially the First Class Terminal lounge at FRA were totally oustanding, which made up for the poor service in the aircraft. Once they came to get me in the limousine at the F class checkin after my arrival from SIN, I received royal treatment until the moment they took me to the aircraft for my next flight.
If not for the ground experience, I would have complained but due to the FCT experience, I am not going to.

Of course, judging the entire LH F product from one single (bad or good) experience isn't possible.

Oh they were not nice at all. But it is probably due to the fact that I was the only "woman alone". There was another older woman but she was there with her husband/companion.
The LH matron in charge of my area was absolutely unpleasant for no reason at all. I was shocked. Never would I expect such a behaviour from a FA in a F cabin.
