Lets Exchange Coupons

Dear Flyer Talk Members;

I have just posted a message <see>
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=530120

where I am giving away a $50 coupon for a Marriott stay, the reason I am giving it away is because I wont use it and was going to throw it away, I hate to see anything go to waste.

I have a suggestion for Flyer Talk, why don't we have an actual forum where we can post what coupons, discounts we have available and we don't intend to use. I know we all get coupons, discounts from time to time that we cant or simply wont use, why not give them away. All it will cost is a stamp.

Of course when posting just mention terms and conditions and the first person to contact the donator will get it. I have already (20 mins after post) being contacted by a flyer talk subscriber who will use my $50 coupon. I am thrilled by that.

Just a suggestion, if this is in the wrong forum please move it to a more appropriate forum.

Sincerely Yours
Karl A Jones

FT already has such a forum, but you don't get access to it until after you make 100 posts.

Oh sorry, no wonder I have never seen the forum, me being just a lurker and not a poster.

Hi Karl,

We have a forum on FlyerTalk called Coupon Connection. It is masked to posters until they have been on FT for both 90 days and have made 90 posts. Randy Petersen wants us to participate in the core of FT, exchanging information about miles and points. After we have done so, and hopefully gained some knowledge about other FTers, we then have access to Coupon Connection.

It sounds as though you are just the kind of person we look forward to participating in CC. Start posting about hotels you have stayed in, restaurants where you have eaten, and your travel experiences. In time, then, you'll see CC and be able to join us there.

Welcome to FT, and thanks for your enthusiasm and interest in sharing!

Thank you

Thank you SanDiego1K for your reply, advice and welcome.
I will try to post as much as possible, I travel quite a bit, mostly to Europe, I travel strictly for pleasure and never business. That said I am sure my travel does not come close to the amount that most business travellers experience on an annual basis.

I will write some reviews and post them over the next few months and hope I will come close to 90 within the next 90 days. I think the majority of my posts will be in the American Express forum as I have a love-hate relationship with the plat card, some days I can't live without it, other days I feel like cutting it up to a million pieces and mailing it back to American Express.

Once again thank you for your welcome, I am looking forward to being a regular poster on Flyertalk.

Sincerely,
Karl Jones

Is entry into OMNI automatic at 90 posts/90 days? Or should one e-mail a mod, asking for clearance?

No, they upped the limit to 180 posts, I think, so you still have a ways to go. It will, however, happen automatically.

Are you sure?? I emailed a mod a while back asking that question, and was told it is (was?) 90 posts and 90 days
I hope it is still 90 - I have been looking forward to my CC access next week!

The CC criteria are 90 posts and 90 days.

For OMNI, the criteria were raised to 180 posts and 180 days.

I can access CC already, but not OMNI yet. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing though.

What is the relation between CC and OMNI?

The criteria for OMNI are typically 180 posts and 180 days but Randy Petersen has stated that entry is not automatic after 180 days. Apparently they scan your posts and ensure that you are contributing to the overall FT community and here for the points and miles. Once that happens, OMNI access magically appears.

As for the relation between CC and OMNI, the only one is they are restricted forums for new members. You have to contribute to the overall BB before access is granted. I am not sure, but I think SPAM also has some access limitations.

Welcome to Flyertalk - it is a fun, but addictive space.

Cheers.

Since this is off topic I'm going to close the thread.
