Please Help Me Plan a Trip

I'm trying to plan a trip with a friend, and between the two of us, we've been to most of the "usual" sights. Unfortunately, our trips don't overlap that much, which makes the selection process harder. The parameters we're working with include;

8 to 10 days late February or early March.
Weather has to be decent (no extremes).
Trip focus is outdoors vs. city type landscape.
Mileage credits on DL/Skyteam or UA/*.
R/T airfare from the East Coast under $1,000.
Excluded areas are N.A., Argentina, Brazil, most of S/E Asia, Australia, W. Europe and most of E. Europe, (including Croatia), Japan, Eastern and Middle China.

We're looking at a couple of Central American countries and NZ, but flights to NZ are about $1,500 from the East Coast. I was also thinking of Mt. Kili, but flights are also expensive, and the climb itself is not cheap. If anyone has done the climb, I would love to hear about it.

Any help with suggestions on locations, and what to do there, or if anyone has seen a better deal to NZ, that would also be great!!

Thanks in advance for the help.

Edited for spelling.

Hello runningshoes!

Judging by your post, your travel areas are limited to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Thailand, and Africa. Unfortunately, I don't book any trips to Africa, so I therefor know very little about the area. What areas in East Europe are you okay with?

If you can PM me and give me the details on your trip, ie ages of travelers, places traveled before and what you're looking for (romantic, family fun, beach getaway, ect), along with the departure city/area, I will be able to find you a place that'll suit your needs.

If you're interested, please PM me the details so I can give you the best areas for a vacation of your type.

Thanks.

Costa Rica is a great destination. Lots of fun outdoor things to do. Send me a private message if you'd like more details. My husband & I just got back last week.

You can try kayaking in Laos, a quick cycling tour of southern Vietnam, or medina hopping in Morocco.

That said, an eco-tour through Costa Rica is never a bad option.
