The US immigration fellow somehow codes customs declarations with something illegible. Recently, I've had a circled "1," "ok," and "chk." I assume this is a message to the customs fellow. Anybody care do decipher the code?

The circled number is the number of travelers covered by that card. When I'm traveling with my husband and son, for instance, we get a circled 3.
The codes generally refer to where you need to be routed next based on the pre-screen and how you answered the questions on the back. An A written on your card would mean you need to be screened at agriculture, for example.
