Bowl Games...

This past weekend a buddy of mine asked if I wanted to usher at the USC vs Fresno State game. I hesitated for about 2 min called my wife and called him back. YES!!!!!!!!! The game was awesome. 50-42 was the final and Fresno looked pretty viscious on many plays. I was then asked if I would usher the Rose Bowl game too. I'd get paid to watch a game!!! Awesome...(I'm imagining being there right now). Saddly my wife wants me to be with her...awwwwwwww
In two weeks I get to go see USC vs UCLA cross town rivalry. "Madhouse"

So who has plans for any of the college bowl games? Any travelers being a road junkie and supporting your fav mascot? Give a shout out to your alma mater or your favorite team.

USC all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have tickets with other friends to the Fort Worth Bowl (not that we know or care who will be there - its in the neighborhood we grew up in!) on December 23.

My alma mater (Texas Tech) should be in the Cotton Bowl but I'll be in Peru and will miss that (also in my backyard - Dallas).

A subject thats close to my heart

Well when UO beat OSU this weekend, it clinched the P10 title for USC and its automatic BCS berth which means its either the Rose Bowl or at worst the Fiesta Bowl.. so I'm booking my tickets to LAX for the RB.. if its the Fiesta, I'll catch a quick shuttle to PHX..

Anyway, I will be at either bowl.. the vacation days are in.. the VDBs in hand and now its just to get a good Mileage run to make this the total package..

33 in a row and counting.. I'll be at the SC FU-CLA game next weekend as well... so far I've been to 8 of 11 games.. it killed me to miss the Fresno game and I was up till 2:30 a.m. watching it on the tube.

I usually can hit another bowl game to during Xmas break.. I may try for the Las Vegas bowl this year since its an excuse to go to LAS.. or the Holiday bowl which always has fun games.. For the non BCS games.. this would be my favorite bowl

Fight on and 3-Pete!!!! See you in Pasadena

Assuming a successful campaign against Stanford this Saturday, my Irish will be in Tempe for the Fiesta Bowl. I won't be going as my company is off that week and I don't have a ton of vacation time. I'm going to Istanbul instead, but should be back in the States in time to watch the game.

Juuuuust about ready to buy an Orange Bowl ticket... but haven't pulled the trigger yet. There's that one little detail regarding my alma mater...

PENN STATE MAY BE GOING TO THE ROSE!!!

PSU was 9 minutes from going to the Rose Bowl last weekend.

one caveat

A USC loss would put them in the Fiesta from what I read anyway.. I'm hearing next up, that the Fiesta does NOT want a rematch of SC-ND.. so the dome would be either Sugar (Atlanta) or Orange bowl bound..

Note to PSU fans.. I'd buy those OB tickets.. damn I hope I didn't just jinx myself

Thre is no way that the Fiesta doesn't select ND for the Fiesta. Should SC lose, does the Fiesta no longer have 1st pick? Not as I understand it. The Fiesta get the first pick no matter. They'd be completely off their rocker to not select ND.

The real question is whether or not ND deserves an at-large bid. Sad, that a more deserving team will be left in the cold for the almighty $.

From:

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/tvl...?page=aboutbcs

The BCS also notes the importance of traditional and regional considerations regarding team selection. Specifically, the four BCS Bowls will host the following conference champions in the years the national championship game is not played at their site.

These consideration tie-ins include the ACC or Big East champion in the FedEx Orange Bowl, the SEC champion in the Nokia Sugar Bowl, the Big Ten and the Pac-10 champions in the Rose Bowl and the Big 12 champion in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Should a BCS Bowl's host champion be ranked number one or two Currently USC-P10 & Texas-B12 in the final BCS standings, when such bowl is not hosting the national championship game, the number one- or two-ranked team shall move to the national championship game and the Bowl shall select a replacement team from the BCS pool of eligible teams. The pool will consist of any Division I-A team that is ranked among the top 12 in the final BCS standings and has achieved at least nine wins during the regular season (excluding NCAA-exempted contests).

this says to me that the Fiesta gets first pick.. for the loss of the B12 champ.. and an at large pick

The question for me arises as to the Sugar Bowl.. where do they pick an opponent for the SEC champ.. is it after the fiesta replaces Texas or after the Fiesta Replaces Texas AND selects an at large..

I'd "GUESS" the Orange gets the last pick b/c they hosted the championship game last season to play the ACC champion which should be VT (maybe MIA or FSU)

From the Star-Telegram (Ft. Worth)...

http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/colleges/13252054.htm

While it appears that the BCS title game might be a clean matchup of 12-0 USC and 12-0 Texas, it wouldnt be the BCS if there wasnt a controversy.

If there are no significant upsets -- and thats a big if -- it appears the Fiesta will wind up in the middle of a selection dispute.

The Fiestas first choice would probably be Notre Dame. Then the Orange Bowl would probably select Penn State to face the Atlantic Coast Conference champion.

The Fiesta then would be have to select either 9-2 Ohio State, 9-2 Auburn or 10-1 Oregon to face the Irish. Ohio State vs. Notre Dame would turn on a lot of television sets (and make up for last years forced Fiesta marriage of Pittsburgh vs. Utah).

"They may have to choose between the Pac-10 and the Big Ten, Hansen told the Arizona Republic. "Theyre going to make somebody real unhappy.

The Pacific-10 Conference, which often believes it gets the short end of the college football stick, will be singing the same song if Oregon doesnt get selected. The Pac-10 and the Fiesta have a recent history -- the Fiesta runs the Insight Bowl, which has dropped the Pac-10 in favor of a Big 12 vs. Big Ten matchup.

So it appears to go after conf. tie ins.. the Rose Bowl 1 vs. 2.. that

1. first pick.. Fiesta
2. 2nd pick.. Orange Bowl vs. ACC champion
3. 3rd pick.. Fiesta again..

What I don't understand is where the Sugar bowl is in this mix.. I know the SEC champ will be there.. but is this where the Big East is slotted too?? I don't know or understand this piece of the puzzle..
