I’m thinking about joining but wanted opinions. What are the lounges like? Are they security side or not? Are they easily accessible and near to gates or still a schlep?

That said, I haven't found very good value in the program.

It really depends on your travel pattern. What airports/airlines would you be utilizing? ATL has two lounges: CO Club and DL CRC (one location only - Terminal E). Most U.S. locations are DL, CO and UA clubs. If you're a Deltoid, be aware that CVG and SLC are not available.
Upside is that you don't need to be ticketed on that airline that day. If you can get past security, then the co-pilot's seat on Joe's Cropduster is fine.
